    WHAT IS SILICONE RENDER?

Silicone render is a modern flexible finish for the exterior walls of  properties and buildings. It is a popular choice among builders and architects because of its durability, resistance to weathering and low maintenance requirements.

The render is made of a mixture of silicone resin, fillers, pigments, and water, which creates a flexible and breathable coating that can be applied to a variety of substrates, including brick, concrete, pebbledash & insulation. It comes in a range of colours making it suitable for a wide range of building styles and designs.

One of the key benefits of silicone render is its ability to resist moisture and prevent the growth of mould, which can be a problem in damp or humid environments. It is also highly resistant to fading and cracking, ensuring that the building’s exterior looks fresh and new for many years.

    Silicone Render FAQ

    What is Silicone Render?

It’s a type of decorative finish that’s applied to the exterior of buildings. It’s made from a blend of silicone resin and other materials, which gives it a range of beneficial properties.

What are the benefits of using Silicone Render?

Silicone render offers a range of benefits, including:

Weather resistance: Silicone render is highly resistant to harsh weather conditions, including rain, wind and UV rays.
Durability: Silicone render is long-lasting and requires minimal maintenance.
Breathability: Silicone render allows the building to breathe, reducing the risk of damp and condensation.
Crack resistance: Silicone render is highly flexible and can withstand small cracks without cracking or peeling.
Aesthetic appeal: Silicone render comes in a range of colours and textures, making it a popular choice for architects and designers.

    How is Silicone Render applied?

It is applied in multiple layers of base coats, mesh and silicone topcoat. The render is mixed with water to create a smooth, consistent mixture, which is then applied to the surface of the building using a trowel or spray gun.

Is Silicone Render suitable for all types of buildings?

Silicone render is suitable for most types of buildings, including brick, block, pebbledash, concrete and insulation. However, it’s important to consult with a member of our team to ensure that the surface is suitable for rendering.

How long does Silicone Render last?

It is designed to be long-lasting and can last up to 25 years or more with minimal maintenance.

    Can Silicone Render be painted?

It can be painted with a silicone-based paint, which is specially designed to adhere to the render surface. However, it’s important to check with a member of our team before painting to ensure that the paint is compatible with the render.

    How to clean Silicone Render?

Start by removing any loose dirt or debris from the surface using a soft-bristled brush or low-pressure pressure washer. Mix a cleaning solution by diluting a mild detergent or specially formulated silicone render cleaner with water and apply it to the surface using a soft-bristled brush or sprayer. Let the solution sit for a few minutes before gently scrubbing the surface with a clean sponge or soft cloth. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and allow it to dry completely before applying any protective coating or paint.

How much does Silicone Render cost?

The cost of silicone Render can vary vastly depending on the size of your property and prep work required. Please contact Page Brothers for a free quote.

Average cost for full house silicone render can start from:

    • Mid terraced house – £4,000-£5,000+
    • Semi detached house – £8,000+
    • Detached house – £10,500+

    Rendering over different substrates

With most silicone render systems there’s a product for each type of substrate for example:

    Rendering over paint

If you have old tired sand and cement render that is still solid a lot of the time removing that render causes unnecessary damage
To the building. Ruining pointing and bricks. Risks of debris damaging other areas of the property and costing more money over all. With the right products after a pull test is done we can render over your existing render with a silicone system.

    Rendering over pebbled dash

Providing the pebble dash is solid and bonded well to the wall it can be a great key for new render. Saving money and mess from removal and giving a modern look on an old system.

    Timber frames

cement boards/render boards can be applied onto timber structures such as dormers, extensions and loft conversions. These boards once fixed correctly to the timber structure allow for silicone systems to be applied directly to the surface eliminating the need for traditional materials such as EML which is notoriously known for rotting away, rusting and contributing to building sweat.

Most substrates can be dealt with using the correct products and knowledge of applications and in turn Saving you money. In some cases the render may be blown and need removal. We will never risk going over any blown render and causing issues down the line. As a company we intend to be around for a long time and doing the correct procedures will ensure that happens.
